Medical Teams International
The Burns Paiute Tribe is a community of 210 people dedicated to the healthy development of families. Department of Social Services is made up of several programs that contribute to the health and well-being of Burns Paiute Tribal members and Native American living in Harney County. The Programs include child welfare, elders services, foster home certification, General Assistance, Child Care, Food Distribution, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs, Outpatient Alcohol and Drug Program, Mental Health Program, Tobacco Prevention, Suicide Prevention, Alcohol and Drug Prevention, Strategic Prevention Framework Data Collection and Prevention, and the TuWaKii-Nobi after school program. Medical Teams - US Programs seeks to strengthen the existing US healthcare system by filling crucial gaps in accessing medical care. Volunteers provide urgent dental care in tandem with medical screenings for diabetes, depression, and hypertension. Offer referrals to continuing care for any patient in need. We ask all of our volunteers to come to their roles with compassion, understanding, and respect for the people we serve. Our volunteers aren’t just the heart and soul of our clinics — they’re the backbone of our work! Bringing free dental care and health screenings to underserved communities only happens because of compassionate professionals like you.
