Medical Teams International
Jamii Program is located at the former Palms Motel. In their effort to help people permanently get off the streets, the Urban League of Portland has opened a new motel-based shelter. The program lasts 18 to 24 months. During that time those at the motel will receive meals, health care, and help developing a plan toward permanent housing. Urban League of Portland is one of Oregon’s oldest civil rights and social service organizations, empowering African-Americans and others to achieve equality in education, employment, health, economic security and quality of life. Learn more: https://ulpdx.org/ We do this by investing in stable housing; workforce development; community health; education and well-being; for our youth, adults and seniors. Our culturally specific programs and services, combined with our powerful advocacy and civic engagement, empower Black communities to thrive across Oregon and SW Washington. We ask all of our volunteers to come to their roles with compassion, understanding, and respect for the people we serve. Our volunteers aren’t just the heart and soul of our clinics — they’re the backbone of our work! Bringing free dental care and health screenings to underserved communities only happens because of compassionate professionals like you.
